Melissa also serves as the ADA Coordinator for the park system and ensures all county parks and facilities are accessible to everyone. Melissa helped open SMLC’s Lost Lake Nature Preserve at the 2015 Public Dedication event.

Sue Shink:
Sue is the Chair of the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners and a Commissioner for District 2.  She has been helping preserve Michigan lands since 1998 and got her start volunteering for SMLC!  Her efforts to support land preservation include helping Donald Staebler preserve his farm (now known as Staebler Farm County Park), serving on the Agricultural Lands Preservation Advisory Committee and donating a conservation easement on her family’s farm. Sue has also championed the renewal and restoration of Washtenaw County’s Natural Areas Preservation Program Millage and the Washtenaw County Conservation District Millage. Her other notable accomplishments include leading climate action projects at the county.
